The Hat

Title: Another Present
Rating: G
Word count:100 words
Characters involved: Archie, Wellard
Character to give rum to:Horatio
Author and notes:linaerys, silly silly

"Wellard, I have a birthday present for you," said Archie.

Wellard wore his habitual hangdog expression, and, eyes darting like a scared rabbit, asked, "What is it?" Archie pulled a bundle from behind his back and gave it to Wellard, who, now seeing that the item wouldn't bite, unwrapped it.

"It's a hat, sir," Wellard observed.

"Not just any hat," returned Archie, "this is finest wool felt, and brand new, too."

Wellard put it on, gingerly, and it slid down to cover his eyes.

Archie frowned, "Horatio had it sized for himself. I didn’t know his head was that big."

OK, my mind just went to a pervy place (as if I ever allow it to leave the pervy place, OC ;-))

Poor, poor Wellard. Nothing ever seems to go right for the poor lad, does it?

Thanks for sharing.

My mind was in a pervy place, too, I have to admit. But I strive to make it rated G.

Change just a few words though, and it's NC-17.

You did something ... haze-inducing ... to this icon, and it looks lovely as a result ...

Sorry to go off-topic. :-D

I don't mind, it does look lovely, and I don't usually go in for Ioan so much.

Thanks! I didn't really know where this was going when I started it, but I knew it had to have hats in it. The hats are inherently funny.

Well, we all know that Horatio is a bit swollen-headed. No... Now I'm too evil. :-)

Anyway, a good drabble!

Well yes, that was part of the point. Although Horatio is an odd contradiction--very self-doubting (especially in the books) but also very self-important.

Glad you liked it.

Mmm. Nice drabble, yum. Hot hat, very hot. What a naughty naughty present for Archie to give Wellard! And letting Horatio try it on first! Phwoar!

Oh - you mean other people think those hats are funny not sexy?

Well, I think the hats are ridiculous, but ridiculousness on the right person can be sexy . . .

Anyway, I was having dirty thoughts when I wrote this but I tried to curb them. Guess it didn't work =).

Well I genuinely find stupid hats sexy, so it's probably just as well no one wears them in real life anymore, or I'd be much more distracted more often.

But people certainly need to find their own hat of perfect foolishness... Archie suffers somewhat in the bicorne, but Hornblower and Pellew... *fans self*

Anyway, you failed to curb yourself to very good effect!

Actually, you're right. The bicorne detracts from Archie, but Hornblower and Pellew wear them so well . . .
